OUR HISTORY

In 1979, Eddie Adkins Jr. had been working for 14 years as a supervisor and fabricator for Baker Truck Equipment.   When the opportunity presented itself, Eddie, with the support of his wife, Judy, chose to leave Baker Truck Equipment with the little savings he had from building trailers on nights and weekends.  That and his love of work and passion for engineering, he created Adkins Truck Equipment Co.  He slowly began to build a customer base by completing smaller jobs that led to custom truck bodies as the core product for the new company he was building.  Motivated with the desire and ability to design and build a product that would help others do their job better, Eddie has earned a reputation that he still carries today.  Over 40 years later, some of those first customers still look to Adkins Truck Equipment for the quality and service they have come to appreciate.

Eddie’s son, Scott, started working for the company full-time in 1989.  Scott has worked his way through the shop and into the front offices.  He now handles the day-to-day operations, while Eddie continues to have a key role in improvements to our design and manufacturing processes.

In 2016, Scott’s son, Timothy, began his journey with the family business.  Along with three generations of the Adkins family, we have a dedicated, long-term management team with over 250 years of combined experience, which has allowed us to grow to over 75 employees and a 60,000 sq. ft. facility.  Our focus continues to remain on strengthening the relationships with our customers by providing a long-lasting quality product and the best customer service possible. We look forward to continued growth and improvements, as well as meeting the challenges in an ever-changing market, in the years to come. We extend a sincere “Thank You” to all who have played a role in our success!
